Set in the American Civil War, Captain James Playfair, a Scottish mercantile who is on his way to make a sizeable fortune by running the blockade of Southern Cotton, but his ship is carrying Jenny Hallibut, a girl disguised as a boy on a mission to rescue her father imprisoned by the confederates.
