First published in 1905, Isabella Bird, took the advice of her doctor to travel literally.
She travelled to the wildest regions of the world, the Malaya Peninsular, Kurdistan, Persia, she travelled Japan during 1878. Japan had just opened to the West. She travelled by pack horse and rickshaw and on foot to remote communities. Her book describes the journey, excitement and pleasure, discomforts and difficulties.
It is illustrated by her own sketches and photographs.
The book is in very good order.
